The Peugeot 206 was much anticipated at
launch, as the replacement for the acclaimed 205.
Introduced in 1998 with 1124cc, 1360cc and 1580cc 'XU'
petrol engines and a 1868cc 'DW' diesel engine. 3 and
5 door versions are available.
In 1999, a 1997cc turbodiesel was introduced (HDI). There
is also a 1997cc 16v GTi model and a cabriolet.
All models have independent front suspension
and rear semi-independent trailing arm suspension with
torsion bars.
Vehicle Identification Number
(VIN) Positions
If
in doubt about whether a part is the right one for your
car, the VIN can help. We may ask you for the VIN number
to identify the exact age or model of your car.
The following diagram shows you where to find the VIN
number for your Peugeot. It is in two places: attached
to the bodyshell on a plate (this may also show other
information such as the paint colour) and also stamped
into the bodyshell.
